An encounter with Lubuntu

Image
Finding Lubuntu Searching with the keyword "lubuntu" might be misleading, so to be safe just search for "ubuntu" and go to their official website . Ubuntu (an ancient African word meaning "humanity to others") is currently published by Canonical, so their name is shown on the top of the official website. After clicking the download menu, links to the official website of several Ubuntu flavors are shown. Lubuntu is currently listed among several other recognized flavors, which all share the same Ubuntu core packages with different additional set of packages, each providing a distinct experience. Downloading? Installation? After navigating to the download page of Lubuntu's official website , generally there are two versions available which are LTS (long-term support) and regular/interim/"non-LTS". The LTS version has approximately three years of Lubuntu Team support and then two years of Ubuntu Community supp...

Going open source and early computer education

Image
It started back when I was an undergraduate student. I tried several Linux distributions for a short time, but due to compatibility issues with the hardware, I reverted to Windows after I found a free Windows 10 license and Office 365 for students. Fortunately, the board is still functional, so after it received a hard drive and WiFi card donation from another laptop, it flung back to life. The old hard drive contained a Windows 7 operating system which was no longer supported by Microsoft, so I tried to find an alternative.  Good Ol' Windows The familiarity of using Windows operating systems went back to the early days of my interaction wi...

Are blogs still a thing?

Image
That question just popped up in my head while thinking about what name should I associate this blog with because apparently, most people are moving towards vlogs (video logs, video blogs) and podcast videos (or video podcasts?) which are much easier for others to consume. Is it because videos have a more significant psychological impact? I've noticed that people love watching multimedia content because it makes them feel like they are experiencing the creator's life. It almost creates some kind of delusion that they are involved in the journey and conversations of the content creator and the experience is instant, easily accessible without the "hard work" of reading. The creator's motivation may varies, perhaps to share their adventures, thoughts, or expertise, provide an easily accessible form of education, grow their digital presence and credibility, or just randomly (maybe also strategically ) create a wave of popularity which could always be mone...
